Nanotechnology and Some of It Applications
The technology behind the manipulation of matter at a Nano scale is referred to as Nanotechnology. In nearly every industry, nanotechnology has found its roots with wide application. The application of this technology is widely applied in sectors such as Information Technology and computing, medicine and healthcare, transport sector and so on. Nanotechnology is also widely used in making of materials used in various processes today. The descriptive term used for such materials is nanomaterials. Properties such as lightweight, makes nanomaterials ideal for making cars, planes and boats. The future of nanotechnology is, therefore, broad. This article pinpoints some of the areas where nanotechnology is already in the application.
Firstly, nanotechnology has a wide application in electrons and the computing sectors. Currently, nanotechnology is used to make smaller and faster systems. Besides that, nanotechnology is also used to make portable systems that can store and manage large amounts of data. The development of transistors used by computers, for example, have become even smaller thanks to nanotechnology. The most recent development of transistors through nanotechnology has led to a one nanometer transistor. Still in computing and electronics, screen technology with nanotechnology has led to newer solutions. With nanotechnology, we now have displays with Ultra-High Definition properties. Such displays have the ability to produce more vibrant colors than before. Besides that, the use of nanotechnology in this area has led to the development of energy efficient displays.
In the medical and healthcare field, the knowledge of nanotechnology has contributed to better solutions for different medical processes. Currently, the use of nanomaterials to make various tools and equipment used in the medical field is gaining roots. Most of the modern imaging tools, for example, are made using nanotechnology. Tools made through nanotechnology have increased precision during diagnosis, prevention, and even treatment. The current development of medical tools using nanotechnology is being focused on vaccines. The application of nanotechnology in this area could see the administration of vaccines to the patients without having to use needles.
The energy sector has also embraced nanotechnology in a greater way. This is driven by the urge to meet the rising demand for energy in the world. In this field, nanotechnology is widely used to provide solutions for affordable energy and more importantly clean and renewable sources. In this sector, for example, nanotechnology has been applied to make solar panels. This has greatly contributed to efficient solar systems that converts solar energy in an efficient way. This technology has also provided a cheaper solution to making solar cells that may even have flexibility features.
