A 10-Point Plan for (Without Being Overwhelmed)

Effects Of Deportation On Families

For sometimes now the department of immigration and customers enforcement has been deporting immigrants that are living in the country illegally, even those that have not committed any crimes. The act has led to various effects especially to the family members that are left behind. Below are some of the adverse effects of deportation to the people that are left behind.

One of the effects is that more children are ending up in foster care. When those parents that do not have the proper documents to prove that they are citizens are deported back to their countries. Most of these kids that are citizens by birth end up in foster care. Being separated from parents and ending up in the hands of people that are not even related to the kids is a traumatic experience to the kids. Secondly, deportation has led to the rise of single parents in the country. If one parent is deported one family is left to deal with all the needs of the family. This is a devastating experience more so in this hard economic times where both parents need to chip in and provide for the family. The parents are also left with the burden of dealing with the law to bring back the other parent in the country.

The third effect is that these families have to endure financial constraints since one of the breadwinner has left then. As said earlier on we are living in hard economic times where money is not easy to come by. When one parent lives especially the breadwinner, other parents and the kids are left to bear the burden by themselves and they might end up doing jobs that are not pleasing just to put food on the table. The other effect is that people are left with the stress of finding for the family by themselves. Children who have seen their families being deported live with the fear that they might be separated from their families too. These worrying is not healthy since it can lead to other mental health conditions to the kids.

Another effect is that families that have had prior experience of deportation are afraid of facing the law. When they are facing a threat they are afraid of calling help from the law enforcers because they feat they will do the same to their families. They are also afraid of seeking help from medical facilities because they fear that revealing a lot of personal information will jeopardize their freedom. As a result they do not go to a hospital, and this can lead to worse medical problems that can take a turn with their lives.

Children from parents that have been deported are unable to focus in their class work. It has also been reported that people that have experienced this separation are expected to develop different mental conditions as a result of the stress they experience.
